That has been known for a couple of weeks but good to see a Riley 5 s again.

 

Can't see this happening with the Castle in March this year, either for water or coal, Vintage Trains will have to make other arrangements.

 

I believe (from posts elsewhere on here) that 5043 is actually going onto the train at Carnforth this year?

 

Their website says Crewe, unless that is out of date.

Should also point out the diesel on the rear for the steam section will come from Carnforth this time, a seperate 0Z path is in the system to join the rear whilst 44871 couples onto the stock in the loop at Carnforth

Standard class at the front for most of the day and all the steam legs, Shireman should be happier at least

 

44871 on the front from Carnforth, 57601 attached to the rear. Plenty of noise coming from both ends of the train as we approach Grayrigg.

A very good northbound run, diesel assistance was apparent just after Scout Green but you could hear the 5 very well from the 5th ‘coffin’ back
