spirited departure from Farnham on time looking very good. no box on back.

Must be the first steam to call there(as opposed to passing through)since the late and much lamented Mid-Hants Countryman trips?

I went to see this coming up the hill from Camberley Station. It made THE most awesome sound that I have ever heard, from anything. Amazing.

Here's the video - turn the volume up :)

After yesterdays lucky shots of Tornado in full sun, today when the sun had been out for much larger percentage of the morning the rain come only on the approach of the 8F! Typical!

Seen here drifting in to Ashford.

About 15 down through Tonbridge, running hard. Such were the closeness of the exhaust beats, one in our group was heard to say "oh, I thought it was a steamer, not the Thumper today!" haha! Person duely educated.

Heres a shot from the fields by Postern Lane, Tudeley, Tonbridge

Saw her at Tonbridge in the sun between showers. Opened up at the foot of Hildenborough bank and came through Tonbridge in fine style, 13 on so a good load.
Sole St tonight was fabulous, nice sunlight, totaly deserted on the hill at Cuxton rd, about 25 down doing around 35? up the bank, usable sound recording lasted around 5mins. Pure magic!
Only got one update today from somebody at Camberley, so many thanks.

Had a brilliant run with 48151 yesterday on the CE. What a fine loco she is. Master of the job at all times. Many great points but the highlights were the awesome attack of Camberley Bank from the pick-up stop at the station on the outward leg and Storming up Sole Street on the return run. Even though we were in the very last carriage K we could still hear the 8F forging away at the front. I think the experience of watching and listening to 48151 thunder up Sole Street bank has bettered the one I had with 70013 from a couple of years ago. Thanks to all involved for a great day that more than made up for our last SD outing to Lincoln. Roll on tommorrow for the lunch time run down to Frant.

A lot of people see 8F and think, freight engine, not interested, but 48151 has often proved that preconceived ideas can be very misleading, she has proved to be a very capable performer and can well hold her own in the noise stakes.

Green Five, I had meant to say thank you for giving the earlier tip-off about the steepness of Camberley Bank, watching the 8F slog up there from the bridge on Upper Park Road was one of my best ever steam experiences, so many thanks!

No doubt a few think 'Freight engine, is it going to get thrashed.... ! ?' (huhuhu.... cool) too
I think its a refreshing change and a pity that there arent more 'small wheelers' about (just 48151 and the lner 'k's' now that the Pocket rockets not in general circulation) If only the 9f's we're still available for this kind of work...

UK steam has Tuesday's runs now with 34067. Any reason that we know of. Hoping there's no problem that will affect 48151's run to Plymouth

You are most welcome. Good video. I did wonder if anybody from the forum was filming the climb of Camberley bank.

Anyone know what's up with 48151? The SD site has also been changed to show 34067 as motive power for tommorrows runs but has no explanation.
