The NR Website says until 12.00. Hopefully this won't be affected as its not scheduled at Oxford until 14.00 according to Rick.

    Nice pictures there guys.

Is it me or has the paint on the Boiler been touched up or re-varnished? Maybe Tyseley had some leftover paint from when they did 6229!

SaltyDog hinted that she'd been smartened up a little... Good to see she's still crimson and hasn't acquired any unnecessary brass or copper ;-)

Certainly looks as if she is in the middle of a repaint, part of the boiler done, smokebox door flattened down waiting and tender also to be done. But can't turn down work when offered at comparatively short notice.

Yes she 's in the middle of a repaint, and as Cambrian55 says when work comes along it can't be turned down.
Don't worry though it will all match eventually.:)

Thanks Kevin I'm sure it will, but as has been said no one can afford to turn down extra work provided that support crew can be found. I wonder if they have my number.....:cell:

Exactly what happened. Having started to reapint 6201, the call came from Bunker Rail for help and so the repaint has currently got as far as the whole of the boiler casing, one cylinder and the RH platform angle. Expect more in the coming weeks. The paint is not left over from 6229, but is to the same formula by J & L Paints of Weston Super Mare.

Incidentally, when are the BR pedants going to give up the futile pursuit of trying to rebrand it as 4 6201? It was built as 6201, it has run as 6201 for some 42 years now and that means that it has spent over 75% of its existence as 6201. Normally the majority vote wins. Jane, just try something that is achievable, as I get the feeling that you are never going to succeed on re branding this one!

Is 6201 still on for The Red Dragon out of Didcot on the 19th? If it is, surely it was silly sending her back to TYS just to work back LE for the 19th unless of course she works back double headed with 4965 .

I always call all UK locos I photo or travel behind by their BR numbers too! Just a little personal foible, (one of many I have!), but it doesn't mean I'm trying to rebrand it. Just my way of getting through the day. LOL!

Don't forget we're in the middle of giving her a repaint so a few days to get on with the job can't be turned down. As for working back to Didcot double headed.........

Might I suggest that you somehow make sure that PE's paint is not dry until very early on the Saturday morning, then you never know what could happen.
