Reason I queried is both 4160 and 9466 were built after Nationalisation. Not knocking Steve's work as I can see he puts an awful amount of effort in. If I wanted to be nitpicky 9466 was built by Stephensons IIRC under contract.

    To answer Steve's question though;
    GWR Built - 6024, 5029, 7812, 5322, 6695, 5542, 5553, 3850,
    BR Built - 9466, 4160,
    And then there's the Mongrul

  2. Ah, my mistake. I should have known 9466 was built after nationalisation - the loco has been to the WSR many times before! Thanks for that, I'll fix it. On the question of 9351, I see that as a "WSR" machine, although I'm sure others would disagree. No worries. It all makes it interesting. Even if they are only GWR locos :)

Also being nitpicky, 6695 was built by Armstrong Whitworth for the GWR!

I am famous for my ability to get a shine on the shiny bits of GWR loco's

For Steve's benefit -I have also managed to get a shine on that copper strip just behind 88's smokebox on occasions, not to mention the cab fittings.

  7. Ah! It's you. Nice one :)

BTW still awaiting confirmation of further locos for the Gala and whether it's 7802 or 7812.

In SVR land they are saying it is 7802 that will be at the gala as it will use the wheeldrops for some maintenance so that 2857 doesn't have to come off the Bridgnorth ones.

    Regards,

    Paul

Now stating on the highly information wsr.org site that 7802 and 4953 are attending the gala now.

A top GWR line up there then now!

Saw her being loaded yesterday when I was Ticket Inspecting the DMU. While I took some phots before running back for the next departure, someone said 6695 had been failed on the way down to Norden casue she was leaking. No idea what that was leaking, maybe it was just rain water...

Just wondering, what is the state of play with the traingle?

When I was there for the summer gala it was hoped to be operational, but I know these things usualy take longer than expected.

  13. Still some way off being completed. Track has now been laid on the West Chord; and part way along the Barnstaple formation, which is now completely clear of vegetation; the East Chord earthworks are ready. More concrete sleepers just received by rail, and lots and lots of ballast arrives almost daily during the week from NR.

It was reported recently that the 2010 Spring Gala was hoped to be the first "chimney-first" Gala but that plan has been called off.

    Hi,

    Official line up is -

    6024, 5029, 4953, 7802, 5224, 5542, 6695, 9466, 3850, 5553, 4160,

    88 Williton thunderbird

    9351 spare

Locos have been diagrammed so that there are no more than two consecutive tender first departures from termini. We have been 99% successful in achieving this end.

6024 and 5029 will start and finish each day at Minehead as that is where their support coaches will be stabled.

BL-NF brake van rides will operate all 4 days.

    cheers

    1 week to go

I'll be off at the crack of dawn tomorrow (actually before dawn) to assist with all the pre-gala prep work. Hope to see some of you there.

Hopefully see you on Wednesday after we've dropped off our gear at the accommodation in Minehead (yes I know she's at Lydeard until Friday night!).

6024 + 4 maroon coaches reported through Bridgwater 19 late en route to the WSR.

4953 + 5029 reported through Oxford 5 early also en route to the WSR. <BJ>

  20. No 6024 left Bishops Lydeard just a few mins late. And should arrive at Minehead at 2.45pm today. Might just be able to see it on the webcam :)
