Looking forward to seeing that, was owners rep on 43106 for most of the weekend and fired that trip, the driver having a play to the crowd through the station...
From my point of view a very well organised weekend, hopefully photos and videos will prove that... 43106 seemed well received by crews and gricers alike.

Sorry, but YouTube withdrew my access last March so I won't be able to post a video. I was delighted to see 43106 at the WSR, I always have very fond memories of it in and around Manchester in the 60s.

    Regards

You might like to know that I also videod 43106 on the freight at Stogumber last Friday morning - and very impressive it was too. Though I have yet to edit any of the footage that I took at the WSR on Friday or GCR on Saturday, I will be publishing it on my Zenfolio site in due course.

    Cheers,
    Mick

I started my Zenfolio account primarily to host my photos, but the ability to put video there as well has been very useful. They do appear to reprocess everything I upload into their own format, and I feel that results in a slight loss of quaility, even when viewed at the HD setting. Although there's no limit on the total amount of processed video that can be uploaded, there is a maximum limit of 2Gb on the file size that can be uploaded. That could be avoided if I upgraded to the next subscription level, but as I've only hit that particular problem once to date, I probably won't bother doing that just yet!

I have never bothered with putting anything on YouTube, so I can't make any direct comparisons between the two from a user's point of view.

    Cheers,
    Mick

I spoke to the farmer in the field on the Thursday to forewarn him that photographers were likely to enter his field over the gala period. He was not particularly worried as there were no crops growing in the field. His next job was to plough the field for next season.<BJ>

    Hi David,
Sorry to take so long to respond to your request.
If you haven't already found it, my video of the WSR ASG, such as it is because of the weather, is now online here: - Mick Rogers Photography | Steam Videos
It's the first entry on that page. Plenty of others on that page to look at, all of which were originally recorded in HD on my Canon Legria HF200 camcorder.
    Cheers,
    Mick

    Mick,

I thought the quality of the video was fine, both in resolution and content. Did you upload in HD I wonder? My broadband isn't fast enough to upload in HD being restricted to 512Kb for upload. It is ten times that for download so I limit myself to SD otherwise I get complaints from the family!

    All the best

    David,

I shoot in AVCHD at maximum resolution (I get about 45 minutes runtime on an 8Gb card) and process the results with Adobe Premier Elements 10 to produce an output file in 1080p HD format. These files always look better played on my PC in Windows Media Player than they do via Zenfolio - but that may be because I'm playing 1080p Full HD local files produced by Adobe Premier Elements 10, which are sized at about 100Mb per minute of run time. The PE10 output files are what I upload, but Zenfolio doesn't say how big the corresponding files are on their servers after they've worked on them. I suspect that they've been compressed by at least 90%.

    Regards,
    Mick

    Mick,

I too shoot in AVCHD and output the 1080p file to an external hard disc after processing in Pinnacle. The external HD is then plugged into a Blu-Ray player so I can watch in HD 1080p. I have noticed that the resolution is very much better watching on the TV than watching on the computer but when I've uploaded to YouTube or Flickr its always been either as an MPG or MP4 file as appropriate. What are PE10 files not heard of those before.

    Regards

Excellent as ever, Ken! There is a location at around 07.22 with the double header which I'm not familiar with - you wouldn't mind saying where it is would you?

All the best for the New Year
