    Followed by Paul Atterbury....

'And now I need to value these shares:

    Hmm. Difficult.

They could be valued at 'par', or perhaps a number we just make up, or there again, we could get a proper valuation of what they are really worth.....and so my value is XXXXX (embargoed by BBC until 17.5.17).'

    Crowd 'oooo' and 'aaaaa' loudly.

ICOTY 'very helpful, Sir, thank you'

Isn't the lesson from Antiques Roadshow that if the expert gives a somewhat inflated valuation, the crowd give an appreciative "oooh" - but only a sale in a genuinely open market can reveal the actual value. And even then, quite often the owner says the sentimental value is more important than the money, so they won't be selling ... ;)

And how many people say they want something valued "just for insurance purposes" ? ;)

I heard today that there will be no buses calling at BL station until the new roundabout is complete and the opening date for it may be delayed. Until then allow an extra 30 minutes to your normal journey time. The three way traffic lights take more than 3 minutes per cycle.

    That's helpful, thank you.
A note on the various web sites would be a good idea, methinks, when the new season opens.
I wonder why it takes six months to build a roundabout & what the impact on WSR attendance might be.

It has taken several years for SCC to get off their corporate backside and actually start work. At least one death has occurred during the delay. A lot depends on the weather during the next few months. Having said that most contracts of this type have punitive penalties for delays so hopefully the contractors will throw resources at it if they anticipate delays. Fingers crossed!

For those who can bear it (or who need a good belly laugh), there is fresh nonsense in the 'news' section of the 4160 website today.

What's all this "Director Mike Crees says..." business?

A whois lookup shows its Mike Crees' website, which I guess all WSR related folk know anyway, so does he perhaps think that using the third person gives it a bit more gravity?

To me it simply gives the impression he is just talking to himself

From what I've read previously, it may well be the case that rather like a ventriloquist and his dummy, there is someone's hand up his metaphorical...

Er, lets not go there :D

I took my three children today (Friday 30th)

They had a great time, everyone was very nice although the prospect of the youngest two (6 & 8) being left with the Taunton Model Railway team clearly worried them as they had enough already.................

Yorkshireman is quite right about the delay in leaving BL, as we were on the last train, although the delay getting in at 9.30 was minimal.

The only point I might make was that the first trail from BL, which was also the last from MD was rather crowded as it only had 5 coaches, I suspect that a six car set would have been much better

Crikey! I have to say that as someone from the outside looking in the guy in charge of that website looks very bitter and twisted! Linen, unwashed and public comes to mind.

I feel quite sorry for them. (Or I would if they arranged for the 4160 shares to come back to the WSRA.)

The rest of us have achieved peace on the Railway and are getting on with enjoying the present and making the future better :) while they lurk in the proverbial Minehead bedroom sending out an occasional vitriolic communication.

    Very sad.:(
