The WSRA are working hard to assist the WSR plc at the moment, very much on a ‘how can we help’ basis. The 9351 work is an obvious case in point.

The Trustees are well aware of their charitable responsibilities. If there was felt to be a need to alter the articles, no doubt the WSRA members would be the first to be told.

Folk need to see the relevance and reason for belonging to the WSRA. We are working on that, as I trust is obvious.

Have you all put a few coins into the Station signs appeal? The patterns are amazing works of artisanship and the signs will be too. And they say Britain does not make anything anymore...

    Robin

P.S. I prefer ‘she’ these days.

My usual line is "ask 10 lawyers and get at least 11 opinions".

I suggest not a slur, but an anecdote that suggests the amount of trust still to be regained. I’ve also always found it easier to persuade people of a proposition when I don’t tell tell them that they are wrong, misguided, or whatever.

Reading the Steam Railway article I was sad to read of redundancies. A good friend has lost his job as a result of this

    This is not really surprising.
The appeal is not mentioned on the WSRA website under the Fundraising or Projects tabs, neither is it mentioned on the 9351 blog page.
People aren't going to contribute to an appeal unless they know it exists and they're given a link to it on the website.

    Very low-key blurb .. https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/assembling9351
It is on the WSRA's web under Projects, Assembling 9351. https://www.wsra.org.uk/assembling9351/

You should try asking metallurgists (I'll get my coat)

How can I help? (Although strictly speaking I am an ex-metallurgist)

My mathematics is worse than my English grammar, just a rough addition of the charges and commission I can see that at least 25% goes to the host? I may be way out with that but is it really wise for a charity to use?

[IMG]Maybe the WSR needs to take advice from Arkwright - and Mrs, Featherstone - about having a firm grip on money! :D

It would be helpful if facts could be checked before such comments are made. Just giving takes a 5% fee plus card charges. They also deal with gift aid recovery.

So for a £10.00 donation the Charity gets £11.74.

From my experience I would agree; ideally tell the metallurgists what their opinion(s) should be. (getting my coat too!)
