Is this actually going to happen? Is there an LE timing yet for Tangmere from Bristol to Southall or is it already there?

Not a word from RTC about what's going on and I emailed them as well. They must know by now. Is this deliberate? We are going anyway as I think it's a good compromise but why the secrecy?

I think we have to accept that the RTC only chooses to update their website when it suits them. And I guess, to be fair, although the rostered locomotive has changed from the one they told the people who had already booked and what they were saying on Tuesday, it's still one of the pool that is listed in their literature.

That said, if you take a look at their list - 34067, 60019, 70013, 70000, 34046 - you can see how misleading it is as some of these were never available (e.g. 60019 and 34046). I'm surprised that they haven't added others to the pool like 35018 and 5029. Wait a minute - they still have these listed against other day trips. Well, there you go.

Yes Al but I would have thought they would have emailed all those who have booked to tell them that the train will only be steam one way and I emailed them specifically to ask what was happening. They just aren't very god at PR

And if they were 'very god at pr' then they would have been able to ensure that No 9 was sorted out in time! :D:D

Indeed all things would then be possible. Can I go back to 1965 please to have that up Belle run again plus the 15th May. Two of the best Bulleid runs ever and both with the same driver, who is still with us

All being well, somewhere like Twyford or Reading would be good to see two steamers in one morning with 61306 and 34067 heading west.

Heading west I hope, not "gone west".

I can't say if this is correct but this was posted on SWRG at 10:51 by 'Duff Martin'. He is normally spot on with the gen. <BJ>

    Paddington to Minehead tomorrow.
'The main line parts of this tour will now be Class 47 throughout due no steam loco''.

Crikey. Mr Yeti might have tempted fate here. Likely to effect the trip South Wales on Sunday too then.

MR Yeti, wow, I don't normally aspire to that!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed there is some steam haulage on the main line part tomorrow. Not just for big brother Don, but for all else on and involved with that train.

But it doesn't sound that promising at the moment. Lets hope the internet report is wrong this time.

I am afraid so, both tomorrow's trip and the Sunday one will be diesel hauled throughout, Tangmere's repairs are not completed in time.

Really sorry, everyone, to have tempted fate with this earlier post. Should have known better given the loco we are talking about.

What a shame, though not a complete surprise. This probably explains why RTC were slow replying to Don - waiting to get reliable news from Southall, perhaps, knowing that the information would soon be widely disseminated?

I have spoken to the office at RTC and they have confirmed the bad news. They could not have been more helpful though and have transferred our booking to 19th September when hopefully the loco position will be a bit better, though if course No. 9 will be in Scotland. Just have to find something else to write about for the next HR though. 61306?
