UK Steam now casting doubt on Tangmere for Saturday. Does anybody know why?

Only because I can't get any confirmation that Tangmere's boiler repairs have been completed !

6960 Raveningham Hall is confirmed for the WSR.

34067 was with drawn for boiler repairs after problems which appeared on 9 September. These prevented it replacing 46233 on 10 September.
Tangmere's next booked turn after the West Somerset Steam Express on 19 September appears to be the Golden Arrow on 9 October, and I am aware that alternative motive power has been sought for this.

34067 was not withdrawn for boiler repairs SD misled customers with that statement. I can assure you it never had boiler trouble. And yes it is rostered for Saturday's trip and baring anything found when lit up it will run the trip

I hope you are correct though I cant believe SD would have made that statement without some justification

Tony172 should be in a position to know, and yet SD did refer to "problems with its boiler", presumably in good faith, having been told of such problems by someone. And then it was replaced by a Class 5 on 12th. There must have been some reason for that, and it would be good to know what it was, whether a problem with the loco itself or something else.

Yes there must be something behind it. I will believe it when Tangmere rolls into Reading on Saturday

I am absolutely amazed that there are no updates on this tour. I was hoping to see it at Twyford or Reading in the morning.

There will be Nat Pres members who are booked on the train surely and if it is not running, would have been informed by now or will have their tickets safely in their possession.

    But the silence is extraordinary.

We are on it and all we have had is a timings update from RTC plus etickets so assume all is well. Should Tangmere have had its FTR exam by now?

  16. FTR is usually done the day before a run so it should be done tomorrrow. Any Tangmere SC update us on their locomotive?

The trip is on Saturday and so the FTR exam is today.

  18. Sorry all. On holiday so seem to have lost a day somewhere! Thanks 83B!

Still no definitive confirmation that the train is running with Tangmere rather than a diesel tomorrow and so confirmation that it has passed its fitness to run exam would be very welcome for everyone. Surely there is someone out there in the UK tonight who can confirm that it's steam all the way to Minehead tomorrow.

The Rugby World Cup is no excuse for a lack of information, in my opinion.
