Maybe if 'official people' didn't get fed up with the attitude of some people on here then there would be more information forthcoming...???!!!

Be careful what you wish for! Tour promoters may just decide that affordable steam tours are not worth the hassle...

The hassle of simply being more up front in advertising?

Let's not mince words, what we mean is not being up front and honest when they know in advance what's happening.

At the risk of opening a can of worms (and this post being transferred to a thread of its own!!!), where do you draw the line? You can't disclaim against every slight unforseen change otherwise you might as well just advertise a 'train'. Not sure how well promoters would survive on that basis???!!! Preserved railways often have much simpler 'small print' in every sense of the word...

Would that include advertising that goes out sometimes many months in advance, even before Network Rail decide that the original loco no longer fits the route (at short notice)??? Anyhow, getting a dose of Deja vu now so will move on ;-)

A one liner as prominent as the main text that says there may be operational reasons for diesel haulage / support on an advertised steam leg.

That's what's needed, more so with the new regime. Think we're more into likely than maybe...

In the latest brochure from RTC, the T&Cs are on the inside of the front cover and in reasonably sized print, so maybe someone has been listening.

You seem to have answered your own question to some extent. What you have described is a forseeable event which happens regularly. All the more need for a 'health' warning about things likely to affect the ultimate product. A very simple catch all is all that ought to be necessary and the latest RTC brochure seems to be moving towards exactly that.

Many personal and argumentative posts removed have been removed for discussion. This thread is about the West Somerset Express and the first run of 6201 since her overhaul.

Possibly, but if more information was forthcoming from those in the know, some people on here would have nothing whatever to grumble at!

Good luck with that one! Not sure it works like that! Have a look a WNXX forum examples of WCRC co-operation...
