I would imagine that it's one set of valve rings not fully expanding when the regulator is first opened. I've noticed it on quite a few GW engines.

I have received an update to the timings of Tangmere's trip to Weymouth tomorrow. The timings
indicate a non-stop run through Keynsham on the outward leg. All other timings are the same. <BJ>

Thanks Chris, I had been out for Nunney the last 3 weeks so a different loco and sun, although patchy, had to be done.
With a lighter load this year the engines seem to have an easier time although still a good test up Evershot and Bincombe. I hope Britannia puts in an appearance later.

 

Great video Nick. It's good to see that 34067 is now well settled in and behaving herself. It was the 9th July run that sorted her out I think!

 

Quite a day so far. I filmed Tangmere at Fisherman' Crossing just after it had pulled away from the 15 mph speed restriction at Dundas Aqueduct. Nice film clip and for once I didn't cock it up. Then it was off to Fairwood Jn. for the Westbury departure followed by 20 mins of drooling over the engine and talking to the passengers at Frome (water stop). The train of 8 coaches was thankfully fully booked today. Next, a steady drive to a crossing at Witham Friary where Tangmere was absolutely belting it. The acceleration of 34067 is absolutely amazing when she's on top form. The loco is a credit to the Tangmere support crew and its' supporters. Now where shall I see the train this evening?

Good to see Bill R from Cheltenham out and about today. Pity he had an argument with a couple of cyclists at Westbury but there you go!! Hello Bill. <BJ>

I've finally got my vid on the tube, the first bit a pan of the Bath city scape has been ruined by YouTube - well it certainly plays a lot better on my PC.

Was talking with a Sky camera man at Lords just this Saturday - very pleased with (heavy duty) UNI-LOK

 

Tangmere broke my run of bad luck with cancelled steam tours in the South West. She performed superbly, often running ahead of time. Good hill climbing throughout the trip, especially on the banks into and out of Weymouth. Some very vocal Bulleid chatter being produced up front. The trip definitely seems to be capturing the "family day out" market which was good to see. But there is plenty of interesting running for the enthusiast as well. Nice to see Tornado on the way out and back as an added interest.

Interesting that the crossing i was at for Tangmere HAS whistle boards and the one I filmed the 8F and Nunney ,Burl Farm crossing as I call it, has not. You mentioned it a few posts ago, not sure what the difference in them is, cant see that either of them have many users, except me of course...........

 

That one is about a mile from a road Jane, but its worth the effort to have the location to your self. If anybody else had been there I would not have been able to pan round.
