Let's hope the political instability in Turkey doesn't prevent retrieval..

Think the 8f frames (remains) may have gone for scrap from Bury after parts retrieval completed. Anyone confirm?

They were stored at Bury at the last report.

The 44901 group must be confident of repatriating an 8F boiler unit for the Black 5, otherwise they would not have let the exisiting unit go to Ian Riley. (Unless that was a condition of the sale though...)

Could that status be verified by anyone in possession of facts?

Nope, he doesn't report that. He reports that he didn't see them. Important difference.

Ok I will clarify to the extent they don't appear to be where most recently seen by std tank who has a good knowledge of the site. Anyhow the question being asked is does anyone know if they have moved and where to please?

48518's frames were not at the place that they have lain since arrival at Bury and I did not fall over them at any other part of the Baron Street site. I have heard that the motion brackets were removed for safe keeping. Unless someone can say otherwise, I think it is fair to assume that they have gone to the steelworks in the sky.

The latest SR says the frames are believed still extant and no permission has been sought or granted by the owner to scrap them.

I had heard the frames had been acquired by the Dean Goods group for use with the Didcot boiler and some wheels from a class 37

It's no longer the Dean Goods group - it's the 'mixed traffic loco group' or some such - keep up!!! Wonder what it will be called next week? Ray.

I don't think they liked the response they got from us when they wrote to us - and that's from me who'd love to do 2516 one day...

Does that mean you disagree with the report and believe the frames have been scrapped?

I have no knowledge or information, but I do know not to believe as gospel most of what is printed in the Beano.

In fairness, recently SR has become more circumspect in its reporting. The same cannot be said, I fear, about the other one...

Didnt the last steam railway also state that the 9F would return to the nymr! And while the report they had from the owner of the frames (ie barry tourist railway) did only say that they hadnt given permission to scrap them. Ill have to double check the article when im home.
