Awwww - yes! Fantastic loco that is far too suited to the SVR to have been out of traffic for as long as it has. Can't wait to see this loco back in working order!

I have been particularly lucky of recent as I have for a long time wanted to see 31806 in steam, which has happend. I also wanted to see 30506 returned to working order. Well, that looks as if it may happen in the near future. 30925, as I had never been close to a "Schools", is on it's way. So, to what loco do I now turn my hopes for a return to steam? The Charley...33001. Different and a good powerful loco.

Anything pre 20th century is good, too much modern rubbish running about these days. One of the NRMs many 2-4-0 tender locos would be nice. Failing that L&Y 1008.

Shes a lovley looking tank. Been of modest dimensions, it wouldn't be overly expensive to do either. Do you know its preservation hystory? TBH I've never heard of it before, or the line it ran on!

Built 1878 by Fox Walker of Bristol, constructed for the Narberth Road and Maenclochog Railway, ended up with various small Welsh railways, and the GWR, before ending up at a steel works and withdrawn 1941. Has not steamed since.

Have to say this is one I'd really like to see steam too. Definitely a forgotten engine, has been on display outside for as long as anyone can remember - I bet very few enthusiasts have ever seen her, she's at the museum of Pembrokeshire life in Scolton Manor! How about it, Gwili?

Interesting - it seems to be an almost equal split between locos that have steamed since 1968 and those that have not (though the 'has steamed' types seem to have had more multiple votes)

... OK it was lunchtime and I was bored!! :)

It's quite interesting to see who would like to see a locomotive steamed out of historical interest and those for sentimental/personal reasons.

I said I'd like to see HR No.103 in steam as it's an interesting and important engine, historically. However for personal reasons I'd rather see 5025 back in steam (although she will be again one day) as I remember her well from my childhood.

for me it would be dumbleton hall as my dad was the major shareholder when it was bought from Barry. and it would be moved away from the south devon to gwsr.

I would like to see (apologies for the fantasy) N.E.R class M1 1621 in steam. My favourite from the old museum at York.

I'd like to see some of the earlier, unusual stuff in steam, especially locos not duplicated elsewhere in preservation and that haven't steamed for many years. Particularly thinking of the GER E4, Thundersley, Stirling Single, either of the Ivatt Atlantics. (Hmmm, mostly the contents of Bressingham). If I had to choose one, I'd probably go for the Midland Spinner No.673, looks so graceful in the 'Rocket 150' footage as it glides along.

Yes, in some ways I'd be inclined to agree. I guess though that money would be less forthcoming for a project such as No:673 because it is outside of most preservationists life spans and therefore doesn't have the 'trip down memory lane' factor. Prehaps it could take a new generation who can't remember BR steam to come along with a bit more of an open mind?
