There are railways im no great fan of, but i dont start up a (second?) account, then post TWENTY ONE times in only one thread about how 'totally convinced' i am its going to fail, just because its not recreating a history i have little or no knowledge of and im no fan of its current motive power.

The people who rebuilt it. Sorry it doesn't come up to your expectations.

And i'm not alone. I'm sorry for you too, i can remember walking on the trackbed of the WHR many years ago, the rebuilding the railway was truly an fantastic idea, but it's the way it's been done and i have already said many times what i don't like about the WHR, so i don't want to go down that road again. Just take a look at the bad feeling created on this forum alone when one dosn't agree with what's been done. Maybe things will sort themselves out, I hope so, but i don't think so.

I have to jump in there as a nuetral party that hasn't really been involved...any bad feeling that has been created on this site has been down to you and you alone, and I feel for the people here who support the WHR but are being exasperated by your persistant negative remarks. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but there are limits to peoples patients when people persistantly complain.

OK - that's enough personal attacks on other forum members.

Re: WHR, has it a future?

I'm afraid the bad feeling was created long before i or anyone else arrived on this site regarding the WHR. This is the only post that i have replied too, i have also had the decentcy to reply to other peoples questions. If you look a little deeper at what i have written you will have noticed that i have not always been negative. The WHR has simply turned into an boringly functional railway, with so many faults, it's truly a shame that one is unable to express themseves, but of coarse, i always knew that from the very start. No, the WHR does not have a future.

Re: WHR, has it a future?

If you're so sure that despite trains running completely full, the line has no future, please say what exactly it is you want so it does have a future. Personally the current setup is the only way i can see how the WHR can be made to pay its way, but if you have an alternative im sure many people would love to hear it.

Ok, forgetting previous remarks, i do have an vision of how the WHR could be better, but going by what i have already seen in this site alone,it's just not worth the energy (troll). Any ideas put forward would be disected and scrubbed clean, so now i would prefer to keep any constructive ideas to myself and just stay an honest critic of the WHR and bide my time.

How can i or anyone else agree or disagree with the viability of what you'd like to see instead, if you dont tell us what that is?

An honest critic? You have referred to the treatment received by the WHHR, or WHR64 as you put it, but have so far declined to explain exactly what this is. What precisely does 'it's truly a shame that one is unable to express their deception correctly' mean?

"Boringly functional?" Do you mean it runs trains from A to B, carrying lots of people who want to travel on them? Isn't that the object of the excercise? There must be quite a number of railways out there who wish they had some of the WHR's "problems." Spectacular scenery, serious gradients, meaning big, interesting engines have to work hard to pull long, full trains. Sounds like serious fun to me, so much so, I'm going on Thursday to have a go myself.

You won't regret it JTX. Right up there with some of the best main line action I've sampled.

Lucky you JTX. I haven't been south of Ryd Ddu yet so haven't heard those Garratts on full chat yet. I think I need to persuade the other half we could do with a long weekend i Snowdonia again.
