I would hazard a guess at the track level has been raised and moved across to the centre line to achieve a better clearance.

As has been said doubling doesn't suddenly make everything better. There will be a debrief of the gala and hopefully the problems with late running and wtt problems will be sorted out.

I was not making an argument, its just that I felt that heritage lines seem to stay single track, when they used to be double, and for the authenticity just thought they should return to original state.
But you have answered my query and thank you.

Most heritage lines were never double in the first place so they're already in their "original state". GCR, ELR, NYMR, GWSR and the Embsay Railway are the only ones I can think of that used to be double track. I'm sure someone will correct me if I've forgotten any.

    Also the

    Lavender line.

    Peak Rail.

WSR was only double from Minehead to just short of Dunster Station and from Norton Junction to Bishop Lydeard Station.
