When it was painted BR green, 15 Nov 1952. The tender had been lettered 'British Railways' at the same time as Leander was painted black, 12 April 1949.

Thanks. So current livery isn't 100% accurate then. That should give the purists something to whinge about.

not if it masqueraded as 45699... apparently sources elsewhere say for it, the livery with the lion would be accurate... Galatea's pretended to be Leander before.. maybe someday the reverse might happen :)

No I do not currently volunteer
Should Leander perform faultlessly where would that put the search for a cure for Galatea's niggling problems?

Take it all apart, put it all back together again, measure everything twice, sacrifice something small and hairy in the firebox?!

It's looking like a loaded test run round the Hellifield/ Blackburn loop might be on the cards for today. The WC path has been activated, or at least it has according to RTT

It would appear to have changed at least one loco already, evidently Mr Riley as quoted on his forum yesterday that it will be a 45690-45407 combo. This could possibly be due to 70013 being withdrawn from mainline duties due to tyre flats, so 45699 may be needed as a standby, a class 6 (when on form) being slightly more useful than a '5, if this scenario is anywhere near factual ? I wonder how long it will take RTC to admit to it, if at all, so beware, if anybody has booked on this and wants to change to 'The Hadrian 2', you will have to pay £10.00 for the privilege !

There is another tour now vacant for motive power now 70013 has gone in for its MOT.

The sight of 2 5Xp in full flight on the S & C would be something behold.

But 46233 is available this winter so 70013 might be covered ........

Not in the least but who am i to stop a conspiracy theory.
What i meant was 5699 might not be needed for 70013 duties as was inferred above because 46233 is unusually available this winter.
I read the comment about 5407 being paired with 5690 and while it would make a nice sight, the customers want the first jubilee pairing for almost 50 years i would venture. If its known now that it wont be happening in January then RTC should say so.
Maybe Mr Riley was just being mischievous while suffering new black loco but with bigger wheels envy.

Being shoved by the diesel at Wilpshire according to the observers. Certainly flew through Gregson Lane without much discernible effort.

Great footage Steve. Gather it beat you to Langho like me at Wilpshire. Grabbed a shot a Gregson Lane crossing. Certainly the clearest run of any test train I'm aware of round that route.

Pairing 61264 with one of the Jubilees would be cool to. 75mph speed limit as well. Even though that is not the advertised product for WCME1
