Once again there was an amazing turn out of cameras covering many parts of the run, I hate to think how cold it was waiting out there. Never the less excellent shots from the usual suspects, it's what we have come to expect from you all. :thumb:

Even Toni ventured into the dangerous area of the Cumbrian fells..........

Just back from an excellent day as a passenger on the Winter CME, there are some great shots and videos on what was a near perfect day (except the lingering fog and mist). It was great to see all the line siders from on board but what I would say is - do so many people have to move 4 foot the wrong side of the fence, does the angle really make that much difference that we have to trespass. That was a general view from several on board and didn't even include the comments about the person walking alongside the WCML when we were in the loop at Broughton.

A brass monkey stopped me in Kirkby Stephen to ask if I knew a good welder.

Someone should have taken a photo of the said person and sent it to the BTP & the mags.

Yep! But we all make decisions like that from time to time. Just so others know anywhere between south of Howe & Co sidings to pass Kirkby Stephen was basically fogged out! Did anyone attempt the silhouette shot at Ribblehead Viaduct - just wondering how it turned out as there was an orange sky / partial sun setting and to get the added bonus of a northbound DBS e/coal train shortly afterwards?

Not my photo, but I saw this silhouette on Ribblehead on Flickr. I hope the poster does not mind.

Very nice Ben! I did wonder what the weather was like that far north. I saw them at Brock after leaving the water stop and decided to go to the East Lancs for a shot of a third Black 5 of the day. 80080 turned up instead!

3 of mine from yesterday. First between Lostock and Horwich, a couple of minutes after sunrise. The second at Brock after the pathing stop at Broughton. Third crossing Ribblehead viaduct at sunset.

Nevermind how cold it was outside... it all matters of how cold it was inside the coaches!
Apart from that though, my first journey along the cumbrian mountains was a success! I had a brilliant time and on the return to have the girls on our end of the train just made the experience even better! I must thank that nice man that was seated along side us, kept us entertained with is stories of the time at hellifield station!
Sorry Ralph, went up to the buffet twice but didn't see you! :eek:hwell:
Next stop is Holyhead I think! :cool1:

Just fantastic images, stills and video. Thanks to all for sharing, and to Ian Riley for turning out two superb engines for the job. Who would have thought we would witness this on the main line, some 43-plus years after the end of steam? Just incredible, thanks again.
