Some cracking photos and footage as always everyone, thanks for sharing.

My efforts can be seen here:steam on the main line network -
60009 'Union of South Africa' with "The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express" PARTIALLY seen at Docker - (for what it’s worth) and catching the last of the winter sun on the climb to Ais Gill as it approaches Kirkby Stephen on 2nd February 2013.
Also various modern traction shots from Lambrigg and Greenholme including 56094 on the logs.

    Richard

Nice stuff. Glad we moved away before it came, thought the smoke would blow down with that wind.

We were told on the train yesterday that it's 60009 on the first 3 CMEs and 45305 on the other 3.

Streak in the sun at Appleby 2 February 2013

After weeks of torrential rain, frost and snow, there was bright sunshine all across the North today. The humbler motive power allocated to the Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express series was unavailable, so we were graced with Class 8 oomph in the shape of A4 Pacific No 60009 Union of South Africa.

A few stray clouds parted as she approached Appleby, the sun lighting up her shiny Brunswick green livery. She had to take a long drink at the water tower, sufficient to take her right through to Farington Junction, as the Hellifield supply proved uncertain this time last year. So there was plenty of time to study her before she set off determinedly towards Ais Gill.

Some great shots and videos so far, I was dead lucky with the sun for the morning shot at LAMBRIGG and then lucked out at GARSDALE.

Your right Henry and I have left a question/remark on the shot even if Neil was one of those standing on a ladder or wall someone should have had a little word with these plebs. Some really nice shots and footage on here especially the shot by Mark on the return at Kirkby Stephen fabulous light on that one.

Not very nice to accuse Neil with no evidence that he was doing wrong.
