It's a magical trip, a cold crisp sunny day, the wild bleak fells, the history of the line. As it happens, Mr.and Mrs. V are having a trip out next week courtesy of the Northern Rail regular winter offer for us poor old pensioners, £9 return, Leeds - Carlisle . We take a bit of breakfast with us, a couple of pints in Carlisle 'spoons, and a bottle of wine (plastic glasses) for the journey back. :thumb:
A rail trip over the S&C should be on every bodies wish list.

44932 leads 45305, carrying 'George Hinchcliffe Special' headboard in memory of the late manager of Carnforth Steamtown.

Take a look at the following website, pretty informative. Personally, it's the scenery and history that does it. Ive travelled on it many times, both by steam and by modern traction. Should be a must do journey on anyones list!
