I assume they managed to thaw out Leander and the five is OK as they had problems up there earlier in the week

I'll second that. The headboard is a nice touch along with the wreath in tribute to Paul Kane.

Running back on time at Ais gill on the early path and putting on a grand display in the gloom with the 47box idling on the back as they hit the summit

I've uploaded a short video of the train passing Scout Green this morning at:

Sadly I couldn't stay out for the return leg - but look forward to some more great photos and videos giving fuller coverage.

Definitely or may be a tear also. A nice touch by all concerned especially at West Coast as it was a fitting way to remember Paul Kane.

That long blast certainly was very eerie and mourneful. I spoke to several members of Paul's family at the station and I am sure they were overcome at the number of people there to pay their respects.

The run in both directions was from my perspective near perfection, we ran close to time or early all the way, on the return we went straight through Appleby hardly slowing, and that must be a first, and the climb to Aisgill seemed effortless. We even got back into Man Vic on the plan A time, even though we had been on the plan B 'longer' route.... OK so we missed out Sough, but I don't think there will be many really bothered about that.
