And it was much enjoyed... 5944 located and words were exchanged......All friendly it must be said.
A few points, I was informed by a crew member whilst we were waiting for departure time at Carnforth that the diesel would not be giving any assistance unless specifically requested, it would not even be in 1st notch and was there solely to assist with shunting at York and if the fire risk was upgraded. The latter as you know was enforced.
Regarding the lineside fire, reports checking the site as we returned said that it appeared to be a short section of dead grass, possibly caused by weed killer overspray, this dead grass igniting far easier that the lush green grass elsewhere.
One upside of the diesel haulage on the return, we left Carnforth 70 early, after a short wait to allow a Pendolino to pass, and made up a further 10 minutes on the way to Victoria arriving 21.29 instead of 22.49.

Thanks John. I much prefer long panning shots to head on shots, not least because you can see the loco for a little longer...

Another shock horror, if that was shot from a helicopter then it was lower that the regulation 500 feet, but even worse it could have been a DRONE, .

Fair play, this post left me paralysed with laughter for three minutes, thirty-two seconds... Sorry, Ralph. Anyway, it struck me that the scenario could be a set-piece in a sitcom!

Did 5972 remain at York and go on display at the NRM as has been customary in previous summers?
