Nothing wrong with steam Steven. Will be enjoying 35018 on Thursday my 292nd ex mainline steam loco. Just don't like blinkered Gas Works loco followers.

We spent two very enjoyable days at the WSR Diesel Gala.
Although we attend all of their Steam galas this was the first time that we have been to their Diesel Gala. The main reason we went was to experience the Deltic, and it didn't disappoint.
The organisers had put together an excellent blend of home fleet and visiting locos; it was a great shame that Western Campaigner wasn't able to play on Saturday and that an incident involving rolling stock resulted in the timetable slipping by an hour or so. However, I didn't hear too much grumbling; presumably most passengers could see that those behind the scenes were working very hard to hold things together.
The biggest surprise for me was the numbers travelling - I have never seen carriages packed so tightly on any WSR Steam gala.
All in all, an excellent weekend and sincere thanks go to all those who made it possible.
If the Railway continues to provide such a good line-up of attractions the Diesel Gala will be a regular event for us.

    Stef.

Will there be any extra trains on 4th August for the Model Railway Exhibition?
