Earlier on in this thread there were post regarding a healthy influx of volunteers.........no one wants to repaint coaches? No one wants to restore wagons? I wonder why?

I don't know if you're right. I'll look into it if I get the chance. What are you own thoughts? PM me if you like to save spoiling this thread.

It could have been clearer but I think I understand it. The EX BL column probably refers to what happens when the loco gets to MD. (That is it goes on the turntable and turns through either 180 or a full 360. Just my best guess.) Not rostered again until Tuesday so not "on the ground" to give an accurate report.

Yesterday they were in the middle of one of the mainline sets, with two chocolate & cream attached at the Minehead end and one at the BL end.

Does anyone know how many coaches will be in each set on Saturday? From Hemerdon's video it looks like not all the coaches are in use.

    Thanks

Platform end barriers at Crowcombe Heathfield

Can I ask photographers for some possible assistance?

During our Galas, Crowcombe station has found it necessary to put up crowd control barriers at the south end of the station. Until now they have used modern plastic barriers in 'dayglo' orange which have not 'delighted' photographers. For this Gala, Pete Darwent of the station staff and I arranged for Crowcombe to borrow a pair of galvanised metal barriers from our stock of material used for the August Steam Rally at Norton Fitzwarren. The photo below explains things better than my words.

The station staff seem to quite like the new approach but are thinking about it during the weekend, and will discuss the future approach after the Gala. If the station were to acquire its own set of such galvanised barriers there would be some expense, and the one for the up platform would have to be shortened by a metre or so.

If any photographers felt able to contribute £5 or £10 towards that expense, or have any other comments or suggestions, could they please PM me, or e-mail me at robin215white@btinternet.com and I can pass those offers or comments on to the station staff to help then decide what to do next .

    kind regards

    Robin White

The sets are expected to be the same for Saturday, with the addition of the QB vehicles as advertised. There has had to be a small number of coaches withdrawn for emergency repairs recently so the usual full fleet is not available.

  15. What happened to the 4F? I hear its now TF out of BL at 09.00. Not a great first shot but hey ho. I presume it will stay SBF out of MD for the duration now?

Post 213 shows a photo of it with the smokebox facing in the up (Taunton) direction.

Also were the trains running late, or a charter was run as there was a train which sounded to be on the Barnstable branch at 18.30 this evening but I wasn't close enough to see it when taking the dog for her walk near the original entrance to Pontispool Farm.
