Would the timetable change if they are unable to get another loco instead of black 5

The timetable would not change, but the locos diagrammed to each train would change. Either they would rearrange the allocations so the remaining 7 locos cover everything, or if this is not possible, one of the GWR locos would be used in its place.

But imagine the moaning about a hall/manor working a SDJR gala. No there were no diesels on the line at all then? I'm 29 so too young to know.

If people moaned about a GWR loco working, then I would challenge them to get a suitable replacement at such a short notice! The team organising the gala are still working hard to find a replacement, and probably won't give up until they have exhausted all options. It's better to use a GWR loco than start cancelling trains. Someone else will know better, but to my knowledge, diesels never worked service trains even at the end of the S & D.

Will Wiliton be fully signalled in time for the Gala or will there be Hand Signalling?

The only diesel that ever worked on the S&D took the track up.

A few dmu's worked some rail enthusiast trains, so if all fails you could use that dmu you have got.

Tried to get a working timetable today, and the lady on the phone said there's non in stock and they might not get any more delivered in time for the gala. Is this correct ?

DMU excursion trains did very rarely work over the line, but it is probably true to say that they were even rarer than the sight of double headed 7Fs. Robin's Officers special with a NB Type 2 loco was a complete one off. I know of no other diesel loco working over the line prior to closure. One or two DMU enthusiast specials went to Writhlington off the "new" North Somerset line connection post March '66. The final enthusiast special to Blandford in Nov. '68 was hauled by an E61xx ED (?Class 74) top and tailed with a Gateshead Brush Type 4. That just about sums up the extent of diesel passenger work on the line.

Oh that's a shame, it's good they sold out if they have, perhaps they under estimated demand. But can see a lot wanting purchase on day.

Shame no one allowed to post working diagrams here.
