Well I would think 34028 & 34046 will do what 46 did with 34007 at the last Autumn Steam Gala, Double Head all day over both Saturdays & Sundays. I think a lot of people would be pleased to see this happen.

This gala is definitely building up to be a BIG one! I am looking forward to seeing 6100 and also 6695; this may not be the biggest or strongest engine out of all of them but it is an amazing little engine which looks fantastic!

Thanks most people seem to be only interested in the headline engines. Its always nice to know that 6695 is appreciated for what she is. =D> \:D/ \:D/

It will also be quite interesting to see her on the SDR in April for their 40th. She's not really my cup of tea but she looks good and therfore makes for a good photo.

I've already spent the best part of a day getting her (6695) clean underneath and I'll probably have another go next weekend. We gave her a polish a few weeks back and she's looking quite nice. Hopefully Andy will let us take her winter coat of steam oil off of the motion now that the spring is here. \:D/

You've all looked after her very well at WSR. Its been a very good experience leaving her in such capable hands and not worrying about what is happening to her. Thanks to all staff and volunteers who have been looking after her during her stay. I expect I'll see you during the second weekend of the WSR spring gala. \:D/ \:D/

I meant 6960 of course. Wheeled frames now at Williton, looking good, tender at GWR, not sure where boiler is.

  11. Apologies for late notice, but I have just been made aware that Lineside Passes are available for the Spring Steam Gala 2009 event. The four options are 1 day; 2 consecutive days; 4 consecutive days and whole events. Costs are £10, £15, £18 and £20 respectively. I have put a link to the application form (PDF) onto the Lineside Pass page at http://www.wsr.org.uk/photographers.htm Note that the application and the listed enclosures must be received on or before the Monday of the first day of the event (I make that 16 March at the latest?). This information is given in good faith and again I apologise for the lack of these details until now.

    Hi,

6100 will arrive at Bishops Lydeard on Saturday 21st March, after having passed it's steam test earlier this week. It will remain on the low loader for the first weekend. If tests go well during the week, it will run during the second section of the gala, starting and finishing at Minehead. Steve Latham and his team have done an heroic job in getting her ready and deserve a resounding round of applause.

Unfortunately, 6024 has firebox tubeplate problems and will not feature - suffice to say the 6024 team are gutted as they also have slogged away doggedly to get her ready after her winter maintenance. She will be on static display at Williton with the 6024 sales stand. 60019, 88, 3850 and 5553 will fill in her turns.

Loco diagram changes, turntable usage details and loco starting directions will appear on the usual websites shortly. 60019 and 6100 are, at present, outwith the maximum permitted load and so will not be turned. Everything else ends up dizzy!

    cheers

Shame about the King. The locomotive really hasn't had a good twelve months, although the 20 December Yuletide Torbay was something special. At least Royal Scot will steam at the Gala, unfortunately not when I am there on the first weekend. I wish to give my congratulations to all concerned in getting her ready, and hope to experience a trip at a later gala. Suffice to say, it makes my task a little easier, as I really want to have a ride behind Braunton, Eddystone, 45231, Bittern, Kinlet Hall and 6695, bearing in mind that I will be there between 10:35 and 17:30. All in all, it looks to be an excellent gala. Hope no-one tells the weather!

Are all these changes in the programme?
Has the programme been sent out yet?
    Will there be BL-NF shuttles?

I would'nt have thought these changes will be in the prog. now as its getting near. A great shame about the King, after all their hard work they found a small crack in the tubeplate. The Scott will have her inaugural trips at some point over the gala.

  18. A Supplement has been produced to accompany the Programme. I imagine it will be sent to those already in possession of the Programme. Much the content of the Supplement has already appeared in Keith's posting above or on the WSR websites, so folks should be able to see the relevant changes.

    Hi Steve

Do I take it that the Programme has been sent out then?

Just asking as I've ordered one and haven't received it. I was presuming they hadn't gone out as yet.

  20. Me and my big mouth, Derek. Actually I don't know if any Programmes have been sent out. And I haven't received one yet :-(
