Wonder if the plates to do it up as a Western Brit for that MHR gala it didn't appear at are still knocking about ?, for a South Wales theme a Canton Brit would be ideal.

Hello, will there be any opportunities for breakfast anywhere on the railway during the event?

10. Now confirmed: a 'bacon butty' limited dining service using Jupiter and Orion from the Quantock Belle will operate on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the Spring Steam Gala, for two round trips on each of those days attached to Set D on the 10.45am diagram starting from Bishops Lydeard.

Thanks Steve, but we'll die of starvation by then! We're planning to be on the first train so we'll miss the bacon butties. :(

I've just noticed this latest news clip from the WSR. <BJ>

Details provided by www.west-somerset-railway.co.uk / wsr.org.

''70000 Britannia will assume the identity of long-vanished class mate no 70021 Morning Star''.

At SSS4 today 92214, from the GCR, (replacing 92212 from the MHR) and now named Cromwell was running under the name of Central Star...... this all getting rather confusing......

I wonder if any Engine has ever been / will ever be named Betelgeuse?;)

19. "As part of the West Somerset Railway's Spring Steam Gala, here is an opportunity of taking an evening round trip from Minehead to Williton and back on the evening of 27 March 2015 aboard a steam train with a fish and chip supper and a bottle of local beer (or non-alcoholic alternative) served as the train leaves the seaside terminus. The train will be headed by two Great Western steam engines and after leaving Minehead at 7.25 pm will work through to Bishops Lydeard. However passengers wishing to return to Minehead will need to alight at Williton and return by a local stopping service which will call at Watchet, Washford, Blue Anchor, Dunster and Minehead, due back into Minehead at 8.48pm. The inclusive cost of the round trip, fish and chips and beer is £20 (only £10 if valid Rover ticket held) and tickets must be purchased in advance from www.west-somerset-railway.co.uk or 01643 704996."

Gala Timetable arrived, hotels booked, can't wait as usual! Just pray to Ra for plenty of the golden stuff. Remember gricing 70021 at Preston in 1962 along with freshly transferred 70025, wonderful we can still do this fifty years or so on.
Bacon butties for breakfast, pastie for lunch and fish and chips for tea - anyone would think we were trainspotters! Now, got to find where to buy a bottle of Dandelion and Burdock from....hmm.
