WSR Winter Steam Festival 2008

Discussion in 'Galas and Events' started by keith speller, Oct 21, 2008.

I understand the WSF train times are with the SEPT guys and I hope to receive a copy any time now for publishing on www.wsr.org.uk

That's fine as long as they turn the engines as they say in the WTT.
During Sunday of the mixed traffic weekend, Braunton was only turned the once, instead of twice as per the WTT. This resulted in Braunton running tender first for 3 of the 4 runs that day :(

All we need now is which way the locos are going to face! But credit is due for giving out the roster freely. It's looking good, B&B booked and a decent weather forecast, but don't quote me as to the latter!

    Hi,
The turntable movements are now confirmed and will be on Steve Edge's website shortly. The turntable is now formally commissioned.

  4. As announced by Keith S, the details are now online at www.wsr.org.uk

Weather looks bright and cold for 28 Dec, and sunny spells and cold for 29 Dec. But keep your eye on the forecasts :)

Its probably just me, but I'm having trouble understanding one passing movement in the timetable,

The 1.15 dep from BL is due to depart Williton at 1.52, but the 1.20 dep from MD is due to depart Williton at 2.05.

How can the 1.52 departure leave, when the train from Minehead is only just approaching Watchet?

    Is it ME?????

Not just you - looks like a delay in the making (esp as it passes the 12:30 fm Minehead at Crowcombe and 14:15 fm Minehead at Blue Anchor).

Worth going just to see what happens!

  7. Thank you for the alert. I have corrected the timetables on www.wsr.org.uk which were previously based on an earlier version of the WTT. Sorry for any confusion.

I don't know why it is, but when I click the link provided by West Somerset Wizard, I have not been able to get the updated wsr.org site so as to access the details of turntable usage. I have the same problem if I go separately to the wsr.org site. Can anyone please tell me which way they are likely to face?

  11. If you can't get to the website itself, it might be a server reboot going on, or if you are still seeing the old page, it might be a cache problem at your end, John?

Anyway, here are the latest details, which I hope you can read OK:

No prizes for guessing that one!!! But they are all good pics.

With regards '95 leaving WSR, the engine might actually be available for a longer stay but I think Andy is getting worried that she is becoming another resident! As far as 6695 Loco Group are concerned we have been very happy with the way the engine has been looked after at WSR by everyone and are pleased that she has been so popular, we also will be a little sad to leave. We would also, without hesitation, recommend West Somerset Restoration to anyone needing contract work undertaken; the quality of workmanship is exemplary and everyone is so friendly.

Happy New Year to all at WSR.

  18. I've received scores of pictures for www.wsr.org.uk - nearly 160 are now online - link on front page.

To those who went along to the event - a very big thanks for supporting the West Somerset Railway.
