Did I see that the meeting is tomorrow Sat 19th, if so most of us will be relieved to hear this as the long drawn out farce/saga may soon be over, but I guess don't hold your breath might be useful to remember.....

Could anyone with access to the '28' bus timetable post a quick digest of the services from the station to the Hall?

I would, but I have just caught the 1520 from Waterloo and Internet access is intermittent (as well as the air con not working :(.

    Kind regards

    Robin

I think the latter sentiment is exactly on target, alas (given this post). It might take another election cycle.

Given that the World Cup and Wimbledon are now over, and recognising that funds are always useful - restoration of 4561 etc etc., I wonder what the TV rights for Saturday might be worth...... For Broadcast after the watershed, of course!

Grateful for Chris' offer to help a maiden in distress. I think the lack of air con is a conspiracy between the TOC and the water seller!

    Kind regards

Still getting over my surprise at the various adversaries now thanking each other and contributing to the main objective. Shows they can work together. No sign of BBCs Kate Adey yet, so bloodshed seems unlikely.

We just need the (late) Brian Hanrahan to provide a report for the evening news: "I'm not allowed to say how many people attended the meeting, but I counted them all out and I counted them all back".

    You are so right Ralph.

Joy, elation or maybe despair, recriminations. It is anyone's guess.

Don't forget many, probably here as well, are watching the great coverage of the Tour de France. [IMG]

There's sufficient real bloodshed in the World today (but I do take Tiffer's post as an apt example of much needed humour in these circumstances) without people arguing about a beautiful GWR heritage railway, which, to my supreme embarrassment as a GWR worshipper, I have still yet to visit. May I wish all those attending the meeting the very best for tomorrow to secure the best outcome for the WSR and ask that those present do their best to please keep things in context. Nearly 300 peoples' lives were snuffed out yesterday because the equivalent of a drunk teenager was given the keys to a fast car/missile system and that should not happen in the 21st Century.

    A point well made.

I have been asked about the 1975 view of Mike Grimoldby and John Wood manning a sales stand I mentioned a few posts ago and have attached a copy, which serves to remind us how far we have come. On Steve Edge's site is a 'then and now' feature, which is useful in the same way; http://www.wsr.org.uk/nowthen.htm

    kind regards

Good luck to all those who deserve it! I hope someone will be kind enough to post the outcome of the AGM for those of us unable to be there. I appreciate newly elected trustees might not have much time.

Just to add my wishes for a successful outcome today, in whatever form that may take. One of the lessons I've learned in life is that sometimes someone you've always taken to be your enemy can actually be your friend, you just haven't realised it yet. In any event what really matters here is not so much the next few hours but the next few months and years where wrongs can be righted, wounds healed and the WSR go from strength to strength.

Fingers, toes, eyes crossed hoping for the best.
