    According to my great grandfathers Regimental war diaries, on April 15th 1917, a small patrol was sent out to observe a village and local railway station near Albert.
    There was no other action in that area that night. He never returned and that was the date of his death.
    Were presuming he was on that patrol.
    Now he is one of the 72000 names on the Thiepval memorial...

    Now if you believe in coincidence.. His service number is my date of birth.

    Newspaper article, having been to Vimy Ridge myself which does happen to be a real creepy place, the photos in this article are of the plain lands below it, thousands were killed trying to climb the ridge held by the Germans..........in one day ! ...[​IMG]
