I was on the Cheltenham Flyer and at one point on the return leg we were 61mins early. We were bookd on the relief from Paddington to Reading and allowed 57mins. We actually got the main and, if my memory serves, were through Reading in about 33 mins. Fantastic run. I'm on this one too and I'm content to just see what happens.

We've got used to VT "special" trains receiving conservative paths then running well ahead of schedule. The important question for me is whether they'll leave Bristol at the booked time, or "go when ready" if the on-board planners see a gap? I guess I'll just have to get to my chosen spot in plenty of time...

Despite several runs behind the Earl locomotive, I had never thought about Mount Edgcumbe and its human Earl until yesterday, when I opted for the Tamar cruise during the layover for the Anniversary Express -- and it took us past Mount Edgcumbe Park.

Been told on board we need to be back onboard for a retimed 1500 departure for the steam portion.

Uncle Arthur's usual little white lie to try and avoid waiting for latecomers. Still 1510 on RTT.

Have a great ride back and hope you beat Nunney to Bristol!

Peter in a rainy Manchester, wishing he was with you all, but it wasn't to be

I can't imagine the controllers allowing a steam tour to depart from Plymouth just 4 mins before a Plymouth - Padd HST. <BJ>

The 1Z48 is booked to depart from Bristol 4 mins after the 18:30 BTM - Padd HST. We'll have to wait and see how it pans out.
The 1Z52 hauled by D1015 arrived safely at Plymouth 5 mins late at 12:38. <BJ>

Happy for the pessimists to suggest their own scenarios. If our onboard announcement says we leave at 3 pm then I'm happy to believe it. What matters is not RTT but what FGW says is ok. So for me,all bets are off.

Will be departing as soon as possible after the 1504 Padd, but hopefully before 1510.

And the XC to York left Plymouth on time, so looks like that loop stop will be required. RTT now showing 1 min late passing Dainton Tunnel.

17.17 into BTM if 5043 runs as well as 5029 did in from Taunton yesterday?

From RTT and my gradient profile book it looks like they are running along rather nicely at the maximum permitted speed.

Oh. I was 15 seconds out in my estimate! LOL.

RTT show arrival at 17.16 ¾.
