I think this was the best looking A4 on the mainline at the time even though i was part of this to say . FISH7373 NFP 81C.
As an A4 was meant to look, being pedantic it's a shame that he didn't pick one of the three others built new with the Kylchap exhaust, the fourth one was Mallard and I don't think the NRM would be amused if he went for that one
...meanwhile, back in 60009 world...any knowledge on when she will leave the ELR?
Well, at some point to run the Christmas White Rose in three weeks time...
Seems her next job is York-Kings X on the 23rd John. So maybe a LE move to York will be on the cards shortly. She is not on the ELR roster for November. Ear is to ground.
All absorbing reading, but....can such writings be consigned to their own thread and keep this one for news about 60009?
deleted - confusion reigns here...
Ok I've moved the off topic stuff to a thread of its own so we can continue the interesting discussion on destreamlining while keeping this thread on topic.
21 November John.
Or possibly not - fracture in r/h cylinder block, two to three week repair estimate according to IR...
Does this mean I'll not get UoSA haulage on the 23rd...?
Thinks: wonder if RYTC will let me transfer my booking onto the 20th December tour to York? I'm determined to get a mainline run this year if possible.
Is there any news on repairs to this locomotive?
Yes, but not good news, from Ian Riley on the works:-
"We have however discovered a fault within the boiler that will have serious consequences to the locomotives return to traffic."
Is this the end?
Oh, I do hope not. I really want to do a main line run behind her before her retirement...
Damn........so sorry to read that. Mr Cameron must feel gutted.
